CCAF is a festival of contemporary art that will manifest across Copenhagen at the end of August / beginning of September 2012. Copenhagen Contemporary Art Festival will make the city of Copenhagen the stage for some of the most exciting and innovative art from around the world. The festival will embrace a variety of new and existing works, while a number of artists will be commissioned to create major new projects in the public realm. CCAF will include a wide range of artists and artists’ groups, all of whose work addresses the concepts of community and collectivity.
The organisers of CCAF are the five major contemporary art centres in the city: Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Den Frie Centre of Contemporary Art, Gl Strand Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art, Nikolaj Copenhagen Contemporary Art Center and Overgaden Institute of Contemporary Art. The project will also bring together other cultural institutions – including those dedicated to architecture, film, music and theatre – in a collaborative venture across disciplines.
The project is sponsored by the Danish Arts Council, the Danish Ministry of Culture and the City of Copenhagen – Department for Culture and Leisure.
